My Dew(ed) contribution...

A prompt from Dew(ed):
A woman steps out of the glow of a streetlamp and turns down a dim alley path. A man waits patiently there in the shadows, the glow of his cigarette getting brighter and then fading again as she approaches. Smoke curls around their heads and they make no effort to speak. Finally she acquiesces making the first move and slides a sealed envelope from her pocket. His eyes never leave her face but a flicker there tells her he’s aware of her paper laden hand hovering in the space between them.
And my attempt to complete it….
“How did you know where to find me?” he asks, still refusing to acknowledge the envelope that seems to grow bigger with each second, eating up the inches from her to him before he is ready.
“Please. Where else would you be?” her eyes flicker to the back door of the bar he practically lives at, and has for years.
Finally he looks down, having no defense for her blunt, angry words.
“What’s this?”
“Probably what you think it is. Don’t worry, it’s much less then you deserve. Just take it.” She shoves it towards him, no patience for the man who broke her sister’s heart so many times.
Automatically his fingers close around it to prevent her punching him in the solar plexus with it, something he doubts she would regret. As soon as he touches it she lets go and spins around. Done with this task, this worthless man, wishing to never see or deal with him again, all the while knowing she would have to every time her sister’s eyes looked past her and the tears welled in them.
“Consider yourself served.” She threw the words over her shoulder, letting him know he was not even worth the backwards glance to judge his response. He crushes his cigarette under his shoe, and after a long look at her retreating back, re-enters the bar. Her step quickens, pleased this horrendous task is completed, contemplating a long hot shower and a glass of wine when she gets home.
